Three homes. Each one designed with family and elegance in mind. After working closely with the team at Roost Interiors in three of their residential projects, it became clear that these lucky homeowners get it all - modern, clean spaces that are perfect for entertaining and for family down time. The rooms have style and punch but are very comfortable and inviting. These spaces welcome the normal spill of toys and crayons, since they can easily be stashed out of sight in time for grown-up entertaining (once the kids go to bed.)

Great shoot this summer with Frame Design Lab in a light-filled apartment in New York.  The original pre-war charm, from moldings to light fixtures, was preserved by this talented architecture firm, while modern elements were created. The team at Lisa Russman Photography set out to showcase the open floor plan and atmospheric quality to the space, and to convey how it is ready-made for relaxed family living and casual entertaining.

March featured project

home theater magic

I was able to shoot a remarkable home theater last month for iTEC Consultants. For this shot, I decided to create a vertical panorama with my Nikon D700 and 24 PC-E lens. This tilt shift lens allows me to take two images, top and bottom, which can then be stitched together to add a bit more ceiling height to the image. In addition, I shot the ceiling separately, so that I could bring out the drama of those incredible fiber optics. The ceiling image was then matched up with the existing merge to make the starry sky pop. Click here to see the whole set.

January’s featured project

Swerve Fitness

My featured work for January 2014 is my shoot for Swerve Fitness in New York City last month. The new cycling studio focuses on community-centered rides where you are part of a team, designated by color, like in the photo above. The loft space boasts a soaring main floor with retail, lockers, and a juice bar in front, well-appointed locker rooms in the back; and a state-of-the art cycling space down below.
